Msgr. Ivan Šaško
Msgr. Ivan Šaško was born on August 1, 1966 in the village of Đivan, Lovrečka Varoš Parish. After completing primary school in Vrbovec, in 1981 he entered the Archdiocesan Minor Seminary in Zagreb, and in 1986 the Archdiocesan Theological Seminary in Zagreb. He began his philosophical and theological studies at the Catholic Faculty of Theology in Zagreb, and after the second year he continued his studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.He was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Zagreb by Cardinal Franjo Kuharić in the Zagreb Cathedral on June 28, 1992. He continued his postgraduate studies in Rome at the Pontifical Liturgical Institute of St. Anselm, where he received his master's degree in 1994 and his doctorate in liturgy in 1997.
From 1996 to 2008, he worked at the Department of Liturgy of the Catholic Faculty of Theology, University of Zagreb, first as an assistant and senior assistant, then as an assistant professor, and then as an associate and full professor. From 2008 to 2011, he served as the rector of the Catholic University of Croatia. He has published several scientific papers in professional journals and several printed works in the field of liturgy.
He was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Zagreb on 11 February 2008 by Pope Benedict XVI, and consecrated as a bishop on 29 March 2008 by the Archbishop of Zagreb, Cardinal Josip Bozanić.
