Msgr. Mijo Gorski
Msgr. Mijo Gorski was born on September 17, 1952 in Gora Veternička, Mihovljan parish, as the seventh child in the family. After primary school, he entered the seminary minor for boys in Šalata and finished the Archdiocesan Classical Gymnasium. As a seminarian of the Archdiocese of Zagreb he studied theology at the Catholic Faculty of Theology in Zagreb and graduated in 1977.
He was ordained as priest of the Archdiocese of Zagreb on 26 July, 1977. He was a parish priest in Vrbovec from 1978 to 1979 and from 1979 to 1982 in the parish of St. Blaise in Zagreb.
Then from 1982 to 1997 he held the office of a parish priest in parish of St. Matthew in Zagreb neighbourhood Dugave, where he built the parish church, and from 1997 to 1998 in the parish of St. Anastasia in Samobor and served as dean of the Okić deanery.
From 1998 to 2002 he held the office of a parish priest of the St. Blaise parish in Zagreb and at the same time he was the Episcopal Vicar for the city of Zagreb. In 2002 he was appointed rector of the Archdiocesan Theological Seminary. He held that office until 2008. Under his leadership as the Chairman of the Committee for the Reconstruction of the Building of the Archdiocesan Seminary, the building of the Archdiocesan Seminary in Zagreb was completely renovated.
In 2008 he was appointed canon of the Cathedral Chapter of Zagreb and director of the archdiocesan facility for support of the clergy and other church officials. He is a member of the Council of Presbyters and the College of Advisors of the Archdiocese of Zagreb.
On April 22, 2010, Pope Benedict XVI appointed Msgr. Mijo Gorski chaplain of His Holiness with the title of Monsignor and on May 3, 2010, the Pope appointed him Auxiliary Bishop of Zagreb awarding him with the title of Titular Bishop of Epidaurum (Cavtat). The news of the appointment was simultaneously announced on Monday, May 3, 2010 at 12 a.m. in Rome and in the Archdiocese of Zagreb by Msgr. Mario Roberto Cassari, the Apostolic Nuncio in the Republic of Croatia.
The Archbishop of Zagreb, Cardinal Josip Bozanćc, ordained him auxiliary bishop of Zagreb on July 3, 2010 in the Zagreb Cathedral.
